Alexandra Headland

Fondly known to its locals as "Alex", Alexandra Headland is a suburb in the easternmost shoreline of the state of Queensland (and, in fact, Australia itself) directly facing the Coral Sea. This community, situated along the Sunshine Coast in the Maroochydore Urban Centre, is located 105 kilometres north of Brisbane, the state capital. Although the area was originally known as Potts Point, it was later renamed in honour of Queen Alexandra of Denmark, wife of Edward VII of the United Kingdom.

Part of the county of Canning, Alexandra Headland is under of the Local Government Area of Sunshine Coast Region. The suburb is within the Sate District of Maroochydore and the Federal Division of Fisher, and it is adjacent to three other suburbs: Buderim, Maroochydore, and Mooloolaba. With its estimated population of 3,338 residents over a land area of 1.5 square kilometres, it is one of Queensland's more densely populated communities.
